About Me
I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College in 1997. At that school, I studied fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and wrote the first third of a novel as my thesis. Shortly after graduation, I began working on staff in Emerson's Division of Continuing Education, where I also taught evening expository and creative writing classes. During this period, I began to experiment with distance learning instruction, and ultimately created the course materials on this site.
As both administration and faculty, I was fully exposed to the complexities of managing intellectual property in distance learning programs. This interest, coupled with a chance meeting, lead me to become involved in MIT's innovative OpenCourseWare project, where I've been privileged to work for the past three years. OpenCourseWare--and the amazing people who conceived, nurtured, and continue to build it--are the inspiration for this project.
