Fictional Narrative Basics - Plot
Unit Completion Date: End of Week 5
[ Previous ][ 5 ][ Next ]
In two pages of critical reflection, select the two or three classmate examples in the plot section of the class craftbook that seem most similar to the dramatic situation of your selected story, and explore whether your selected story and the examples you've chosen fit with the above model.

  • If they do, demonstrate how by identifying the protagonist and external antagonist, the conflict between the two, and how the conflict is resolved.
  • If they don't fit with the above model, then try to identify where tension or conflict in the story is generated and how it is resolved? What alternative plot model can you identify at work?
Once you have demonstrated one of the two above as the general case for your story and chosen examples, then look at the differences between the story and the examples you've chosen. If they all have external antagonists, how are those antagonists different?

Please post this exercise in the "Plot" section of the class craftbook.
