Managing Fictional Narrative Flow - Introduction
Completion Date: End of Week 9
I've grouped these four subjects--Dialogue/Indirect Discourse, Scene/Narrative Summary, Epiphany, and Prose Style--together because they represent to me a second level of concerns for the fiction writer beyond the basics of Plot, Point of View, Character, and Description. All of these basic elements can be in good working order in a story, and yet the story can proceed awkwardly, without focus and without a sense of the uninterrupted progression of the action.

The four basic elements give a general outline to the shape of the story, but the moment-to-moment burden of successfully executing a story rests on the skill sets addressed in this discussion unit. As with all of the discussion units, you may feel free to begin with whichever topic appeals to you most, and move around from topic to topic. Start by selecting any one of the links to the left. Good luck.
